Hello, world! My name is Veronica de Vera, born and raised in the Philippines and living in London for 3 years. I have been part of AEGEE-London for 1.5 years now. I work as an accountant in architecture, and during my free time, I do travel videography and play musical instruments. I discovered AEGEE one day as I was finding international organisations online. I integrated into visiting other AEGEEans abroad, and had more drive to be involved in more international events.
This year, I participated in AEGEE-Thessaloniki’s summer university, and became the incoming responsible of AEGEE-London’s first Regional Training Course, where 20 amazing participants around the world, including Kim Sommer from AEGEE-Leiden, have participated. I’ve realised that attending one event after the other becomes a catalyst; it’s a coal that makes the fire brighter. To AEGEE-Leiden, I hope you continue growing and showing Europe and the world that we, as young proactive individuals, have a lot of power in us to influence the world to open up, build bridges instead of build walls, and remind each other that we can all be friends and not just strangers. To solidarity!
