What is a SU? <site>
A SU is a event lasting 10 to 24 days. An avarage SU takes two weeks. There are several kinds of SU.

Language Course (LC)
organised by one or more AEGEE locals. It lasts 2 weeks and gives the participants a chance to learn a language during at least 16 hours of tuition. The fee of maximum 70 Euro per week includes tuition, lodging, two meals per day, of which at least one is a warm meal, and a social programme.

Language Course Plus (LC+)
LC+ is an intensive language course organised by one or more AEGEE locals. It last 2-3 weeks, participants receive at least 20 hours of intensive language tuition by professional teachers. The fee of max. 90 Euro/ week includes tuition, lodging, two meals per day, of which at least one is a warm meal, and a social programme.

Summer Course (SC)
SC is about a specific local culture related topic that does not focus on learning a language. Participants receive at least 10 hours of tuition. It is organised by one or more AEGEE locals and lasts between 2-3 weeks. The fee of max. 70 Euro/ week includes tuition, lodging, two meals per day, of which at least one is warm meal, and a social programme.

Summer Course cooperation (SCC)
SCC is a Summer University organised by an AEGEE local in cooperation with a Working Group or Project. Participants receive at least 10 hours of tuition. It lasts between two and four weeks. The fee of 70 Euros/week includes tuition, lodging, two meals per day (of which one is warm) and a social programme.

Travelling Summer University (TSU)
TSU is usually organised by at least two AEGEE locals. During the 2-3 weeks of cultural trips across Europe, the group visits at least 4 different places. There is no formal tuition provided; the aim of this event is to enjoy the lifestyle and culture of a place.
The fee of max. 90 Euro/ week includes travel costs from the first to the last place mentioned in the programme, lodging, two meals per day, of which at least one is a warm meal, and a social programme.

Summer Event (SE)
SE focusses on cultural exchange. It lasts about 1-2 weeks and gives participants the chance to experience a lot of culture in short time. The fee of max. 70 Euro/ week includes tuition, lodging, two meals per day, of which at least one is warm meal, and a social programme.

For every SU, we recommend you can make yourself understood in english. This is the language spoken most on Events.
Important to remember is that AEGEE Summer University courses are more about interacting with people rather than focussing on serious studying. You will, for example, not receive ECTS for participating. Summer Universities are a chance to increase your international awareness by gaining a deepened knowledge of the country visited and the cultures of the inhabitants.

Traveling

All the city's in AEGEE are called locals. Have you chosen a SU? The traveling costs to and from the SU aren't included in the fee! You will have to arrange transport to and from the local yourself. If you aren't sure where your local is located, check the map. Try to book your trip way before the SU. You are not only secured of your trip, but it is also cheaper! You can also come by every Tuesday till Friday office between 15:00 and 17:00.

Applying

You can apply on http://www.aegee.org/su. For this you need an internet-account of AEGEE-Europe. To create an account you need to be a member of any AEGEE-local. The AEGEE-Europe account isn't the same account as the AEGEE-Leiden website account! You can subscribe when you have an AEGEE-Europe account. This doesn't mean you are accepted for the chosen SU! You will have to chose up to three SU's you like. It is important that you make a specific motivation letter with every SU to enlarge your chances being chosen. Try to be as original as possible, organisers will get enough people who say they love party's and get to know new people. You can also apply for one SU, with the bigger risk that you aren't accepted in any SU.

The first selection isn't made by the organisers, but by AEGEE-Europe: The Summer University Coordination Team (SUCT). They will make a pre-selection where they look at sex and your country. They will try to have just as many boys as girls with as much nationality's as possible. No worries, you'll not get stuck with only Dutch people. The pre-selection is going to the organising locals, and they will chose on basis of your motivation letter the participants.

Applying for a SU is possible until the 30th of april. After this there will be the selection and a few days later you will be notified whether you are selected for the SU of your choice.
