Regular activities
There's always something happening within a network that is as big as AEGEE. Sometimes it is quite difficult to find out what's possible and which activities you can participate in. So here is an overview of activities on local, regional, and Euopean levels.
Local/Regional
Apart from the weekly drinks on Tuesday nights at the Branderij (Middelweg 7, Leiden), AEGEE Leiden organises many local activities for her members every year. The Activities Committee (AC) is responsible for organising these activities. The activities vary greatly and could range from go-karting, lasergaming, talent shows and costume drinks to the more serious activities such as a visit to Clingendael. An activity will be organised once every two weeks, so don't hesitate to come along!

Introduction period
Every year, in September, an introduction weekend is organised. This weekend takes place somewhere in the Netherlands and it is organised by the I-cie. During this weekend, the new members can get to know the asociation and the older members (there is no hazing). There also is an introduction period. During these few weeks extra activities are organised in and around Leiden. Usually the mentor groups have dinner once a week and take part in an activity every week. The introduction period always ends with a big party for all new members in the Netherlands: the Show Your Color party. Every AEGEE local wears their own color. Members weekend Abroad
Each year around March a group of about 25 people visits a European city for a weekend. This always is a huge success. In previous years we have been to Madrid, Berlin, Mannheim and Budapest. Contact with the local in the city and cultural trips are all part of this members weekend.

Summer University in Leiden
Every year since the beginning of the Summer University (SU) project AEGEE Leiden organises a two-week SU in which we show around foreign members in cities such as Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht. A Summer University is associated with an educational theme, but fun and having an unforgettable summer are the most important! For our own members it is always a lot of fun to participate in activities. To join in you can contact the Summer University Committee at

European activities
With over 240 AEGEE locals there's always a lot to do. Apart from the 100+ famous Summer Universities there are over 200 international activities every year that you can sign up to. These activities vary from serious events, such as European Schools and conferences, to fun events which mainly revolve around the local culture and getting to know each other. There also are the general assemblies on a European level: the AGORAs.
Summer Universities
For many people this is the first acquaintance with AEGEE: The Summer Univeristies; the holidays of AEGEE Leiden. During a SU you spend two weeks of summer in a different city. It is more like a holiday than taking classes. It is cheap (around 150 euros) and you will get to know many students who are members of AEGEE. The SUs are organised by students from the relevant local. Who can better show you around a city than people who live there themselves? You will get to see much more than if you walked around a city by yourself with your Lonely Planet! The themes of Summer Universities vary, from language courses and sports (hiking, cave climing, cycling, kayaking) to fun on the beach and volunteering. You can sign up for SUs in April/May.

Agoras
Twice a year (in spring and fall) AEGEE-Europe holds a General Assembly. During these meetings over 1000 AEGEE members come together for three days to decide on the vision of AEGEE, to choose board members for the European Board, and to discuss new proposals. Apart from the serious side during the day, there are parties at night.
Every AEGEE local has to send one to three official delegates. These delegates represent AEGEE Leiden in discussions and polls. To get to know the Agora, every local is allowed to send a limited number of visitors. This is the ideal way to see how the European sideof AEGEE works, and to experience new things and meet new people.

European Schools
Now that AEGEE exists for a whi
le there are many students who have graduated and who even have important positions in society. These members have a lot of knowledge which they would gladly pass on.This is why the AEGEE-Academy was established in 1999. They yearly organise an event which revolves around the passing on and expanding of knowledge which is present within the organisers. The organisers are alumni who have been educated to be a 'Trainer'. There are many different European Schools, such as about organising small (ES1) to big activities (ES2), about Public Relations (PRES), fundraising (FRES), AEGEE technology (ITES), about organising a SU (SUPS), and courses to educate AEGEE Trainers (Trainers for Trainers).
